Explore Waldorf Education - 2016
Shishyaa School hosted ‘Explore Waldorf Education – 2016’, the second in a series of seminars, is convened annually with a view to create awareness of WALDORF EDUCATION amongst parents, who are keen to know about ‘non-conventional’ education opportunities that are available today. |
We were honoured to have with us Ms. Aban Bana, founder of ‘Anthroposophical Initiatives in India’. She is also the one of the first trained Waldorf teacher in India, the other being her sister Ms. Dilnawaz Bana. Together they initiated the Waldorf movement in India. With 40 years of experience she is the senior-most advocate of Waldorf Education.
Equally delightful was the opportunity to have with us Ms. Suchitra Inamdar, consultant psychotherapist and counsellor specialising in anthroposophical perspectives. She was also a lecturer with the University of Mumbai as well as SNDT University.
The event which remains free to all, had a huge turnout and was immensely commended by the participants. The insights brought in by both the speakers, resonated the essence of true education being a journey of acquiring knowledge and not facts, for facts change but knowledge remains.
The seminar began with a talk by Ms. Aban Bana, on the journey of Waldorf Education’s genesis being based on the need for healing the world that was destroyed due to lack of love and empathy, which also made one realise the rise of a similar need felt in today’s day and time.
The second talk by Ms. Suchitra Inamdar and was based on ‘The Benefits of Waldorf Education - Physiological & Psychological’ discussed how children benefit from the pace and design of the curriculum that is aligned with the development of the child.
The final session was delivered again by Ms. Aban Bana where she discussed the Design of Waldorf Curriculum’ highlighting the philosophical standpoint of the education process. At the core of the design lies the essence of awakening the hands, the heart and the head of the child, such that they are able to perceive and perform throughout their lives, in an empowered and empathetical manner.
‘EWE’ is an annual series initiated by Shishyaa School since the year 2015.
