'PLAY UNPLUGGED - 2014' The idea of this camp was to bring children outdoors and have them physically experience playing with friends and enjoying the outdoors, quite like the times their parents grew up. We gave them a reason to disconnect from the devices that has them hooked, and glued to their couches. |

The three days of the camp, ie. the 24th, 25th and 26th of December was extremely action packed. Right from the participants, to the organisers and the helpers, all were busy in activities that were absolutely physically and mentally engaging. The camp's activities included tent making, nature trails, dancing to self created music (using emply bottles, chairs and one's own two feet), pottery, cooking, handicraft (using items collected during nature trails), art, yoga, exploring the surroundings, face painting with natural colours, and reviving olden traditional outdoor games (marbles, hopscotch, spinning tops, etc.)
Our young participants who walked in with tentative steps and wondering eyes, soon found themselves laughing and playing with gay abandon. Every activity was intended to engage and educate the child, while providing complete entertainment. Children experimented different forms of cooking like pan-cooking, roasting and steaming and ceremoniously feasted on the food they cooked. They engaged in all the three stages in the process of pot making that included crafting the pot, sun-drying, and finally oven-baking it in order to harden it. During the nature trails they collected natural objects like twigs, leaves, flowers, feathers, etc. from their surroundings and later made decorative hand crafted items out of it. What really caught their fancy was realising that it's possibile to create music out of things lying around.
Overjoyed by this entire experience, the participants as well as parents requested for more such events. We will definitely not disappoint them!!
